As many of you may know already, the companies that were offering gas drilling leases last year have withdrawn a lot of the unsigned leases because of the falling price of natural gas. To our knowledge, no one in River Forest had even been contacted about a lease, so no one lost money they thought was coming. Many others were not as fortunate, as they had already negotiated very favorable leases and simply had not gotten around to signing them before the companies rescinded them. When the push to get mineral rights leases begins again - and it will - your board will make sure you are informed of what's going on in River Forest.

Rules Committee (Volunteer Positions Filled)

Rules Committee Formed
At the Annual Meeting, three amendments to the RFHA Bylaws were presented, discussed at length, and approved. One amendment gives the elected Board authority to establish, publish, and enforce rules for the neighborhood. This is to allow us to enforce the existing Deed Restrictions, which themselves do not provide for enforcement.
A related motion was approved to form a committee that will work for the next 60 days (until the week of June 22) to establish a set of standard rules that will uphold the spirit of our Deed Restrictions. This committee will also be setting up a penalty (fine) schedule, as well as an appeals process. If you would like to be involved in this effort, click on the "Read More" link to get more details.
